We are well and truly in the depths of awards season. From the NTAs & Golden Globes to The BAFTAs & The Grammy's, the red carpet gets rolled out A LOT at this time of year. However, there's one ceremony that's always the creme de la creme of showbiz celebrations...
This year marks The Oscars 92nd Academy Awards!
As a squad of makeup artists & photographers, our makeover studio team is always super excited to see what beauty looks will make headlines and who cut it when it comes to the best-dressed list!
This year, we've decided to put our team to the test. We have a band of beautiful MUAs who have heaps of industry experience in TV & film. Our photographers are experts in fashion & beauty and often work on projects for magazines and fashion houses. With all those skills under their belt, they should find the challenge we set them a walk in the park...
Create an Oscars-inspired look that's fit for the red carpet!
We nominated make up artist, Ruth Tong, to decide on a look for model Kirstie Sutherland. She opted for old school Hollywood glamour with voluminous hair (achieved using heated rollers), classic black winged liner, and a bold red lip.
For the first setup, the theme was 'Getting ready for The Oscars'. Ruth kept Kirstie's hair in rollers to add to the aesthetic. Photographer Lenka took Kirstie down to the studio to capture the look:
Next up, after a quick outfit change, Ruth removed the heated rollers and teased Kirstie's hair into gorgeous, vintage waves. Isn't the final look fit for the red carpet?
Kirstie slipped into an amazing grey sequin number than was giving us 2003 Meryl Streep vibes! If you come to the makeover studio for your own VIP experience we always recommend bringing a variety of outfit changes. Think formal, casual, cosplay, stylish, sexy, fun or something very sparkly!
Sequins are always a great option as your photographer can do some fun, creative lighting that always oozes glamour.
Here are a few more favorites from the 'Glitz and Glamour' setup:
For the final look, we turned to the queen herself for inspiration; Lady Gaga! In 2019 she and Bradley Cooper performed Shallow (from A Star Is Born). It was the outfit she wore for that performance which inspired our last setup:
The beautiful cut of the skirt was perfect for creating shots with lots of movement. Our favorite photograph from the entire shoot required perfect timing on Lenka's part and some professional modeling from Kirstie! But, boy oh boy did it pay off...
The team LOVED putting this shoot together so we hope you like the finished product! Will you be opting for vintage red-carpet glamour when you have your Makeover Photo Shoot?
Special thanks to our phenomenal team:
